Description
Peripherin is a 57kD type III intermediate filament that is a specific marker for peripheralneurons, including enteric ganglion cells. Peripherin is expressed in the developingperipheral nervous system and is highly enriched in neuronal derivatives of the neuralcrest. Peripherin offers an advantage over other neural markers, such as S100 and NSE inthat it does not stain chrmaffin cell types.

Specificity
This antibody detects Peripherin (aa 265-471). Species: Human. Others not tested. Add. Information: Molecular weight: 57kDaCellular localisation: Cytoplasmic
Application Notes
Western blot: 1-2 µg/ml for 2 hrs at RT. Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections (1: 400, 10 min at RT), staining of formalin-fixedtissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followedby cooling at RT for 20 min. Positive control: Rat brain. Small bowel, peripheral nerves and ganglion cells. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
