Background The serine/threonine kinase Pak1 is an effector of small Rho GTPases, Rac1 and Cdc42. Pak1 complex specifically with Rac1 and Cdc42 in their active GTP bound state, inhibiting their intrinsic GTPase activity leading to their autophosphorylation. It plays an important role in the regulation of cell morphogenesis, motility, mitosis, and angiogenesis and has been implicated in the progression of many cancers.
