  • Application Notes
Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1: 64000. Western blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 55 kDa band in Human Adipose andLung lysates after 0.01 μg/mL antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot findan explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of84.5 kDa according to NP_003725.1. The 55 kDa band was successfully blocked byincubation with the immunizing peptide. We would appreciate any feedback from peoplein the field - have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have anyfurther splice variants/modified forms been reported?Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections: 3-5 μg/mL. In Human Liver shows membranousstaining in sinusoid lining cells surrounding hepatocytes.

    Background
VAP1, upregulated in response to inflammation, is a cell adhesion protein that participates in lymphocyte recirculation, by mediating the binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node vascular endothelial cells, in an L selectin independent fashion. VAP1 also displays a monoamine oxidase activity, catalyzing the deamination of methylamine to produce formaldehyde. Upregulation of VAP1 has been reported in Alzheimer's disease, where increased levels of formaldehyde are responsible for b amyloid cross linkage and plaque formation, significantly contributing to the pathogenesis of this disease.Synonyms: Copper amine oxidase, HPAO, Membrane primary amine oxidase, Semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase, Vascular adhesion protein 1
