Background: The dimeric enzyme AOS1 acts as a an E1 ligase for SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3, and probably SUMO4. It mediates ATP-dependent activation of SUMO proteins and formation of a thioester with a conserved cysteine residue on SAE2.

The AOS1 N-term polyclonal antibody (ABIN389080) is used in Western blot to detect AOS1 in mouse liver tissue lysate.

Western blot analysis of AOS1(arrow) using rabbit polyclonal AOS1 Antibody (ABIN389080). 293 cell lysates (2 ug/lane) either nontransfected (Lane 1) or transiently transfected with the AOS1 gene (Lane 2) (Origene Technologies).

Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human cancer tissue reacted with the primary antibody, which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry. clinical relevance has not been evaluated. BC = breast carcinoma. HC = hepatocarcinoma.
