Background: SIRT1 is a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined, however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity

Flow cytometric analysis of K562 cells using SIRT1 Antibody (Center)(bottom histogram) compared to a negative control cell (top histogram)FITC-conjugated goat-anti-rabbit secondary antibodies were used for the analysis.

Western blot analysis of SIRT1 Antibody (Center) (ABIN390177) in MCF7 cell line lysates (35ug/lane). SIRT1 (arrow) was detected using the purified Pab.

Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human prostate carcinoma reacted with SIRT1 Antibody (Center), which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry. clinical relevance has not been evaluated.
