Microsomal arylacetamide deacetylase (AADAC) competes against the activity of cytosolic arylamine N-acetyltransferase which catalyzes the N-or O-acetylation of various arylamine and heterocyclic amine substrates and is able to bioactivate several known carcinogens. Arylacetamide deacetylation by AADAC is also important in the metabolic activation of some arylamine substrates to carcinogens.Synonyms: CES5A1, DAC, arylacetamide deacetylase
