Additional Information

Characteristics Synonyms: Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase cytoplasmic, IFP53, WRS, Interferon-induced protein 53
Alternative name WARS / TrpRS
Gene ID 7453
Swiss-Prot P23381
Immunogen KLH conjugated synthetic peptide selected from the N-terminal region of human WARS
Cross-Reactivity Human
Description Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNA by their cognate aminoacid. Because of their central role in linking amino acids with nucleotide triplets containedin tRNAs, aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are thought to be among the first proteins thatappeared in evolution. Two forms of tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase exist, a cytoplasmicform, named WARS, and a mitochondrial form, named WARS2. Tryptophanyl-tRNAsynthetase (WARS) catalyzes the aminoacylation of tRNA(trp) with tryptophan and isinduced by interferon. Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase belongs to the class I tRNAsynthetase family.
Specificity This antibody reacts to WARS. Species: Human. Others not tested.
