  • Application Notes
Peptide ELISA: Antibody Detection Limit Dilution: 1/128000. Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 200-250 kDa band in lysates ofHuman Brain (Frontal Cortex and Hippocampus) and Mouse Brain after 0.05 μg/mLantibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literaturefor the band we observe given the calculated size of 97.0 kDa according to NP_003250.2. The 200-250 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizingpeptide. Immunohistochemistry: 2-4 μg/mL. In paraffin embedded Human Brain (Cerebral Cortex)shows axon/dendrite staining leaving cell bodies relatively unstained.
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    Background
ICAM5 is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family. All ICAM proteins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins, contain 2-9 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, and bind to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. This protein is expressed on the surface of telencephalic neurons and displays two types of adhesion activity, homophilic binding between neurons and heterophilic binding between neurons and leukocytes. It may be a critical component in neuron-microglial cell interactions in the course of normal development or as part of neurodegenerative diseases.Synonyms: ICAM-5, Intercellular Adhesion Molecule 5, TLCN, TLN, Telencephalin
