Additional Information

Characteristics Synonyms: Vesicular glutamate transporter 1, BNPI, Solute carrier family 17 member 7, Brain-specificNa(+)-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransporter
Alternative name SLC17A7 / VGLUT1
Gene ID 57030
Swiss-Prot Q9P2U7
Immunogen Peptide with sequence C-HDQLAGSDDSEMED, from the internal region of the proteinsequence according to NP_064705. 1. Genename: SLC17A7
Cross-Reactivity Cow (Bovine), Dog (Canine), Human, Mouse (Murine), Rat (Rattus)
Description VGLUT1 is expressed in a subset of glutamate neurons and transports glutamate into nativesynaptic vesicles from the brain, exhibiting a conductance for chloride that is blocked byglutamate. Vesicular glutamate transport has a substantially lower apparent affinity thanthe plasma membrane excitatory amino acid transporters. Glutamate transport by VGLUT1is saturated with a K(m) of approximately 2 mM, in the same range as transport by synapticvesicles. Finally, plasma membrane glutamate transporters recognize both aspartate andglutamate as substrates, whereas VGLUT1 does not recognize aspartate.
Specificity Recognizes VGLUT1Species Reactivity: Tested: HumanExpected from sequence similarity: Mouse, Rat, Canine (Dog), Bovine
