Purpose Monoclonal antibody to detect TNF alpha in human samples.
Immunogen Human TNF-alpha
Clone CDP 571
Isotype IgG4 kappa
Characteristics The antibody binds specifically to TNF-alpha, a pro-inflammatory cytokine which stimulates release of other cytiokines e.g. IL-1, IL-6 and GM-CSF as well as secretion of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 from endothelial cells. It stimulates acute phase responses and acts as a chemoattractant for NK cells and monocytes/macrophages. The antibody reached Phase II clinical trials with Celltech, UCB.
Synonyms: Tumor necrosis factor superfamily member 2, TNFSF2, TNFA
Purification Affinity purified using protein A
Alternative Name TNF (TNF Antibody Abstract)
Gene ID 7124
UniProt P01375
Pathways NF-kappaB Signaling, Apoptosis, Caspase Cascade in Apoptosis, Cellular Response to Molecule of Bacterial Origin, Regulation of Leukocyte Mediated Immunity, Positive Regulation of Immune Effector Process, Production of Molecular Mediator of Immune Response, Positive Regulation of Endopeptidase Activity, Hepatitis C, Protein targeting to Nucleus
