Specificity
|
DS-PB-02909 recognizes rat metabotropic glutamate receptor 2 and 3 (mGluR2 and mGluR3). The metabotropic glutamate receptors have been organized into three groups, mGluR2 and mGluR3 make up group II, and are negatively coupled to adenylate cyclase. Group II mGluRs act to inhibit neurotransmitter release as auto receptors on glutamatergic terminals and as presynaptic heteroreceptors, performing a variety of functions in the central and peripheral nervous system. Studies have shown that mGluRs play an important role in neuroplasticity and group II mGluRs are targeted by various drugs used for treating anxiety, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia and drug addiction. DS-PB-02909 detects bands of approximately 110kDa (monomer) and 220kDa (dimer) in rat hippocampal lysates.(Western Blotting test)
