Background LIM and senescent cell antigen-like domains 1 (LIMS1, PINCH1) is an adaptor protein which contains five LIM domains. LIM are two zinc finger motifs with links to regulatory function (1). LIMS1 is thought to be involved in integrin and growth factor signaling. During integrin signaling, LIMS1 interacts with ILK, through its LIM domain. LIMS1 also acts as a bridge linking ILK to NCK2, assisting in growth factor signaling pathways. LIMS1 has been linked to coupling surface receptors to downstream signaling molecules involved in the regulation of cell differentiation, cell proliferation, and cell survival (2).
