Background P115 / TAP (Vesicle docking protein p115, Transcytosis-associated protein) is a general vesicular transport factor located in the Golgi complex. p115 is part of the Golgin protein family, defined by their location in the Golgi matrix and their long coiled-coil domain. p115 is thought to be essential for ER to Golgi traffic (1). Specifically, p115 is required for intercisternal transportation within the Golgi stack and required for transcytotic fusion and/or subsequent binding of the vesicles to the target membrane (2). Also, p115 has been suggested to be act as a vesicular anchor to the target membrane.
