| Comments |
Background: Rheb (Ras Homolog Enriched in brain) is a Ras-like small guanosine triphosphatase (GTPase) that is involved in cell growth and cell cycle progression. Rheb has also been suggested to have involvement in the TOR/S6K signaling pathway (1). It regulates the activity of the mammalian target of rapamycin, mTOR, a central regulator of cell growth, in response to growth factor stimulation and nutrient availability (2). It also interacts with and appears to regulate Raf-1 kinase, an essential component of the H-Ras signaling pathway, and is suggested to function in concert with H-Ras to dynamically integrate cAMP and growth factor signaling (3). |
