Immunogen A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the N-terminus of human SCF was used as an immunogen.
Specificity A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the N-terminus of human SCF was used as an immunogen.
Alternative Name SCF
Background Novel hematopoietic growth factor, stem cell factor (SCF), was cloned and demonstrated to be the ligand for the c-kit tyrosine kinase receptor. SCF is encoded by Sl (steel), a gene critical to the development of several distinct cell lineages during embryonic life and which has important effects on hematopoiesis in the adult (1). SCF is able to augment the proliferation of both myeloid and lymphoid hematopoietic progenitors in bone marrow cultures. SCF exhibits potent synergistic activities in conjunction with colony-stimulating factors, resulting in increased colony numbers and colony size (2).
Synonyms: KITLG, MGF, SCF, Kit ligand, Mast cell growth factor
Molecular Weight 18 kDA
Gene ID 4254
UniProt P21583
Research Area Cell Signaling, Protein Modifications, Cell Structure, Cell Cycle
Application Notes IHC: = 1:100-250, WB: = 1:50000-200000
