Immunogen A synthetic peptide corresponding to the extracellular portion of human TNFR1 was used as immunogen.
Specificity A synthetic peptide corresponding to the extracellular portion of human TNFR1 was used as immunogen.
Alternative Name TNFR1
Background Tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 (TNFR1) is a receptor for tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α,), a mulitifunctional proinflammatory cytokine. Produced in activated monocytes, TNF-α, has effects on lipid metabolism, coagulation, insulin resistance, and endothelial function (1). TNFR1 is activated by binding to TNF- α, or homotrimeric lymphotoxin-α,, which leads to recruitment of caspase 8 to the activated receptor by FADD. This formation of death inducing signaling complex (DISC) lead to caspase 8 proteolytic activation and cascade of caspases mediating apoptosis (2).
