| Description | Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTP) have been implicated in cell proliferation, cell signaling, and oncogenic transformation. More members of the PTP family of proteins have been found by screening libraries with cDNA at low stringency hybridization. VHR, a prototype for PTP, is a vaccinia-virus (VH-1)-related phosphatase of 185 amino acids with activity against phosphotyrosine and phosphoserine. In vitro, VHR is capable of dephosphorylating several growth factor receptors. In conjunction with insulin or progesterone, VHR accelerates germinal vesicle breakdown of Xenopus oocytes. These findings suggest that VHR is implicated in the regulation of cyclin-dependent kinases during the cell cycle. |
| Characteristics |
1. Since applications vary, each investigator should titrate the reagent to obtain optimal results. 2. Please refer to us for technical protocols. 3. Caution: Sodium azide yields highly toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in plumbing. 4. Source of all serum proteins is from USDA inspected abattoirs located in the United States. |
