Alternative Name Cdc37 (CDC37 Antibody Abstract)
Background Progression through the cell cycle is determined by numerous extracellular factors that convey their messages to the cyclin-dependent kinases (cdk). Cdks are regulated by factors such as the availability of cyclins, inhibitors like Cip1 and Kip1, and phosphatases. CDC37 (50kDa), a regulator of the cell cycle, targets Cdk4. CDC37 was identified in a complex with pp60v-src and Raf-1. In vitro assays revealed CDC37 as a subunit of Hsp90 which associates with Cdk4. The overall result of this binding appears to be a shorter half-life of Cdk4.
