Description	C-erbB-2 proto-oncogene is localized on human chromosome 17 encoding for a 185-190 kDa membrane protein, showing structural similarity to the EGF-receptor. Over-expression of c-erbB-2 oncoprotein is correlated with bad prognosis in mamma carcinoma. Also other carcinoma like adenocarcinoma of the stomach exhibit increased levels of C-erb B-2 gene product. Synonyms for c-erbB-2 oncoprotein are ERBB2 oncoprotein, neu-oncoprotein, and HER-2/neu oncoprotein.
