| Specificity | A-crystallins, a major protein of the ocular lens, are thought to play a role in maintaining lens transparency, which are composed of two gene products a-A and a-B, for acidic and basic, respectively. a-crystallins can be induced by heat shock and are members of the small heat shock protein (sHSP). They act as molecular chaperones and hold unfolded or misfolded proteins in large, water-soluble low molecular weight aggregates. These heterogeneous aggregates consist of 30-40 subunits ofa-crystallins, and the a-A and a-B subunits have a 3:1 ratio, respectively. Two additional functions of a-crystallins are an autokinase activity and the participation in the intracellular architecture. |
Application Details: Crystallin alpha A (Human) antibody
| Application | Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA), Western Blotting (WB) |
| Application Notes | The antibody has been tested by ELISA and by Western blot analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Recommended dilution range for Western blot analysis: 1:500 ~ 1:2000. Recommended starting dilution : 1:1000. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. Immunoblot analysis: Rat eye extracts were resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to PVDF membrane and probed with anti-crystallin a.(1:1000). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a DAP detection system. Arrow indicates crystalline a.(~20 kDa). |
| Buffer | This antibody is supplied as liquid, Protein G affinity purified immunoglobulin fraction in PBS buffer pH 7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide as preservative and 10% glycerol. |
| Storage | Store the antibody at 4-8° C for one month or at –20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
| Research Area | Neurology, Enzymes |
| Restrictions | Research only |
