| Specificity | DNA methyltransferases methylate the 5-position of cytosine in the context of CpG dinucleotides. DNA methylation is crucial for normal embryonic development, genetic imprinting, and X-chromosome inactivation. Hypermethylation of DNA has also been implicated in tumorigenesis through improper methylation of growth regulatory gene promoter regions. ABIN122930 detects DNA methyltransferase 3a (Dnmt3a) from human and mouse tissues and cells as well as recombinant human Dnmt3a. This antibody does not detect full length recombinant human Dnmt3b or Dnmt1. ABIN122930 as been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~120 kDa protein representing Dnmt3a from P19 cell nuclear extracts. ABIN122930 immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 86-100 from human Dnmt3a. ABIN122930 immunizing peptide (ABIN126504) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments. |
