| Specificity | This antibody recognises the protein designated GAP-43, a neuronal protein that is expressed at elevated levels during development and also during regenerative axon growth. GAP-43 is a protein of approximately 40-45kD which is found tightly associated with neuronal membranes. The solubilised protein binds calmodulin, although this is reduced following protein kinase C phosphorylation of GAP-43. Reacts with human, monkey, mouse, rat and cat. Antibody reactivity and working conditions may vary between species. |
