| Description | JAK1 (Janus kinase 1) a 130 kD non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase family and a member of the JAK subfamily is a widely expressed, membrane associated kinase involved in signal transduction pathways from interferon alpha, beta, and gamma receptors, all class II receptors, cytokine receptors that utilize the common gamma chain subunit for signaling, and cytokine receptors that utilize the gp130 subunit for signaling. JAK1 phosphorylates Stat proteins and SHP2. This kinase is constitutively expressed, but expression can be increased with interferon-alpha and interferon-gamma stimulation through transcription. JAK1 activity is increased by cytokine receptor-ligand binding and can be decreased by SOCS proteins, SHP2 protein phosphatase, and PPAR agonists. JAK1 is modified by phosphorylation and has been shown to associate with IFN-alpha receptor beta chain, IFN-gamma receptor alpha chain, IL-10 receptor alpha chain, IL-2 receptor beta chain, and IL-4 receptor alpha chain. The Poly6044 antibody recognizes the N-terminal region of human JAK1 and has been shown to be useful for Western blotting. Distribution: Widely expressed, membrane associated Function: Involved in signal transduction pathways from interferon alpha, beta, and gamma receptors, all class II receptors, cytokine receptors that utilize the common gamma chain subunit for signaling, and cytokine receptors that utilize the gp130 subunit for signaling, phosphorylates Stat proteins, SHP2 Modifications: Phosphorylation Synonyms: Janus kinase 1, JAK-1 Regulation: Constitutively expressed, can increase expression with interferon-alpha and -gamma stimulation through transcriptional activation. Activity increased by cytokine receptor-ligand binding, decreased by SOCS proteins, SHP2 protein phosphatase, and PPAR agonists Structure: Non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase family, JAK subfamily, 130 kD |
