Description
|
Pokemon is a transcription factor that has been identified by a large number of synonyms, including FBI-1 (Factor that Binds to Inducer of Short Transcripts (IST) protein 1), LRF (Leukemia/lymphoma Related Factor), ZBTB7 (Zinc Finger and BTB domain containing 7A), TIP-21 (TTF-1 interacting peptide 21), and OCZF (Osteoclast Derived Zinc Finger). Pokemon is inducible during both murine and human preadipocyte differentiation and may contribute to adipogenesis by influencing the switch from cellular proliferation to terminal differentiation. Pokemon associates with active chromatin and stimulates TAT-activated HIV-1 transcription through interactions with the HIV-1 long terminal repeat. 3T3L1 cells stably overexpressing Pokemon show a reduction in DNA synthesis and in expression of cyclin A, Cdk2, and p107.
