| Description | Recognises the 170-180kD P-glycoprotein, a plasma membrane associated molecule which is important in mediating resistance to cytotoxic drugs. In normal tissues P-glycoprotein is expressed in liver, kidney, colon, adrenal gland and lung. In malignant conditions increased expression of P-glycoprotein may be associated with multi-drug resistance, and the detection of this can have important consequences for treatment. |
