| Description | The protein is a plasma protease inhibitor and member of the serine protease inhibitor class. Polymorphisms in this protein appear to be tissue specific and influence protease targeting. Variation in this proteins sequence have been implicated in Alzheimers disease, and deficiency of this protein has been associated with liver disease. Mutations have been identified in patients with Parkinson disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. |

| Application Notes | IHC:For an ABC system, dilute 1:50-100 and incubate for 30-60 minutes at RT. For demonstration of A1-AT in histiocytes or macrophages on formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections, perform heat mediated antigen retrieval before commencing with IHC. For demonstration of A1-AT in hepatoma on formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections, perform enzymatic antigen retrieval before commencing with IHC. This antibody can be used in a panel of antibodies to mark neoplasms of histiocytic, leukemic and liver origin (References 3. and 4.) |
