Antigen
Alternative Name CD59 (CD59 Antibody Abstract)
Background CD59 is a 19-25 kD glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein alsoknown as protectin, MACIF, and H19. It is broadly expressed on hematopoietic andnon-hematopoietic cells. CD59 inhibits the cytolytic activity of complement by binding toC9, inhibiting incorporation into C5b-8, and preventing the terminal steps in complementpolymerization of the membrane attack complex. CD59 has also been reported to play arole in T cell activation. Alternate Names: anti-Protectin antibody, anti-H19 antibody, anti-1F-5Ag antibody, anti-HRF20 antibody,anti-MACIF antibody, anti-MIRL antibody, anti-P-18 antibody.
Gene Symbol: CD59
Gene ID 966
Research Area Cardiovascular, Atherosclerosis, Hematopoietic Progenitors, Tyrosine Kinases, Innate Immunity, CD Antigens, Surface Receptors of Immune Cells
Pathways Complement System

Concentration 0.5 mg/mL
Buffer Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, Sodium Azide
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Handling Advice Do not freeze.
Storage 4 °C
