Mouse (Murine) Complement C4 (C4A) interaction partners

  1. C4 mediated synapse elimination during postnatal development

Cow (Bovine) Complement C4 (C4A) interaction partners

  1. The C4A (show C4B Antibodies)-complete transcript is the main transcript under normal physiological conditions, while C4A (show C4B Antibodies)-AS is augmented when mastitis develops.

Human Complement C4 (C4A) interaction partners

  1. C4A (show C4B Antibodies) and C4B (show C4B Antibodies) gene copy numbers are stronger risk factors for juvenile-onset than for adult-onset systemic lupus erythematosus.

  2. Complement C4A deficiency (gene copy number <=1) was identified as a risk factor in a case-control study of juvenile dermatomyositis, particularly when subjects concurrently carried the HLA-DRB1 (show HLA-DRB1 Antibodies)*0301 allele.

  3. Schizophrenia risk from complex variation of complement component 4

  4. C4 levels were significantly lower in Factor XII (show F12 Antibodies)-hereditary angioedema than in idiopathic non-histaminergic acquired angioedema.

  5. our study indicates that Finnish NTM (show NTM Antibodies) patients had significantly more often C4 deficiencies than the healthy control subjects.

  6. Complement components C3a (show C3 Antibodies) and C4a (show C4B Antibodies), but not C5a, display antimicrobial activity against P. aeruginosa, E. coli, B. subtilis, and C. albicans.

  7. C4 is a novel cellular substrate of the HCV NS3/4A protease.

  8. serum C4a desArg is a potential biomarker for the severity of histological findings in patients with IgA nephropathy.

  9. Our findings indicate that a high copy number of C4A (show C4B Antibodies) confers risk for Behcet disease by modulating the expression of C4A (show C4B Antibodies) and enhancing IL-6 (show IL6 Antibodies) production.

  10. Studies indicate that initiation of lectin compleme pathway leads to activation of the serine proteases MASP-1 (show MASP1 Antibodies) and MASP-2 (show MASP2 Antibodies) resulting in deposition of C4 on the activator and assembly of the C3 convertase.

Complement C4 (C4A) Antigen Profile

Antigen Summary

This gene encodes the acidic form of complement factor 4, part of the classical activation pathway. The protein is expressed as a single chain precursor which is proteolytically cleaved into a trimer of alpha, beta, and gamma chains prior to secretion. The trimer provides a surface for interaction between the antigen-antibody complex and other complement components. The alpha chain may be cleaved to release C4 anaphylatoxin, a mediator of local inflammation. Deficiency of this protein is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and type I diabetes mellitus. This gene localizes to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class III region on chromosome 6. Varying haplotypes of this gene cluster exist, such that individuals may have 1, 2, or 3 copies of this gene. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
