|Background||5-HT1B , a Serotonin Receptor, inhibits neurotransmitter release from neuronal terminals. Knockout mutant mice lacking this receptor exhibit decreased anxiety, increased aggression, and augmented alcohol and cocaine consumption compared to controls. 5-HT1B receptors have been found to control areas of the human brain involved in migraine pain, bipolar disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder. The 5-HT1B receptor has been reported to be expressed in a variety of neurons predominantly in the central nervous system. It has been suggested that Human 5-HT1B receptors are located somatodendritically on GABAergic and peptidergic caudate-putamen neurons which project to the substantia nigra and globus pallidus, where these receptors are presynaptic. 5-HT1B expression has also been seen in heart, blood vessels, and eye.Synonyms: 5-HT-1D-beta, 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1B, HTR1DB|

Immunohistochemistry with formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues (7 μg/mL). Antigen retrieval: Steam slides in 0.01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0, at 99-100 °C for 20 min. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature in buffer for 20 min. Rinse in 1x TBS with Tween (TBST) for 1 min. at room temperature.
Other applications not tested.
