Y-box Protein-1 (YB-1): Monoclonal antibody detects nuclear YB-1

In a recent BMC Cancer article Peter R. Mertens et al show that the monoclonal anti-YB-1 antibody F-E2G5 detects nuclear YB-1. The nuclear localisation of YB-1 is associated with a poor survival rate. In addition a correlation between nuclear YB-1 and the abscence of progesterone receptor expression was uncovered. This correlation could indicate that the nuclear localisation of YB-1 is characteristic for a specific breast cancer subtype.
