Frequently cited: Antibody detects antibacterial protein Cathelicidin

Area: Bacteria
Cathelicidin acts as effector of the innate immune system and possesses antimicrobial and immunomodulatory functions. Cathelicidin binds to bacterial lipopolysaccharides, and hence serves a critical role in the mammalian immune defence against bacterial infection. These peptides have been isolated from several species of mammals, and are part of a family of proteins situated in specific granules of polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
This polyclonal IgG antibody against cathelicidin has been produced by usage of a synthetic peptide from human Cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide. It has been tested for Western Blot and immunohistochemistry applications, and has successfully been applied in many studies.
