The transmembrane receptor TRAIL-R1 is a member of the TNF family and is being expressed in most human tissues. TRAIL-R1 has also been denominated death receptor (DR) 4 which derives from the pro-apoptotic action TRAIL-R1 exhibits.

Apoptosis is activated by the ligand TRAIL and TRAIL-R1 has been shown to interact with the anti-Death Associated Protein (DAP) 3. Additionally, FAS-Associated Protein with Death Domain (FADD) mediated apoptosis has been shown to be mediated via TRAIL-R1 based signal transduction. This anti-human TRAIL-R1 antibody can be used in flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry and functional applications and is a fusion protein containing the extracellular part of TRAIL-R1 and the constant part of the heavy chain of the human IgG1.
