New kit for a more efficient extraction of membrane proteins
Application: Biochemical Assays
antibodies-online offers a Membrane Protein Extraction Kit for effective extraction of membrane proteins from mammalian tissues and cells in less than one hour. Unlike other available procedures this kit does not only extract the total cellular membrane proteins, but also the plasma membrane proteins, with a consistently high yield and purity of over 90%.
Membrane proteins prepared using this kit can be utilized in a variety of applications, such as Western blotting, 2-D gels, and enzyme analyses. This kit has been utilized successfully in two recent publications.
The first study investigated Geranylgeranyltransferase I (GGT) that is responsible for lipid modification of several signaling proteins. Amongst them are members of the Rho family like the small GTPase Rac1. The study investigated the involvement of GGT in neuronal morphogenesis.
The second study dealt with the gene PRKAG2 which encodes the γ2 subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). This subunit has been shown to cause glycogen storage. This recent study investigated increased AMPK expression in the mediation of increased cardiac glucose uptake.
