Epigenetics: Bmi1 regulates tumorgenesis of neuroblastoma cells

Area: Cancer

A study published this year in the Journal Oncogene addresses the expressional regulation of Bmi1 and its downstream targets. The research was carried out in neuroblastoma (NB) cells and addressed questions of epigenetic alterations and its roles in the tumorigenesis of NB. Using an antibody specific for Bmi1 it was revealed that the expression of Bmi1 resulted in the acceleration of proliferation and colony formation in NB cells.
