HSV-1: Interaction of autophagy and MHC class I presentation of antigens

Area: Virology
Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) viral proteins are usually processed by the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I presentation pathway. This occurs after autophagy has facilitated this process. A second pathway is triggered later during infection. A recent study suggests a complex interaction between the two pathways. The study utilized an antibody against the microtubule-associated protein MAP1LC3B.
