A current study investigated the effects of GluR1 in the hypothalamus, providing biochemical and cellular mechanisms which regulate food intake. The study utilized an anti-phospho-Ser845 and an anti-phospho-Ser831 GluR1 antibody which are available on antibodies-online.

AMPA receptors like the GluR1 play a role in transmission of synaptic signals. A recent study investigated these effects of GluR1 on food intake. A reduction of phosphorylation of GluR1 at serine 845 is shown to occur after both pharmacological and genetic manipulations of melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) receptor 1.
