Antigen
Alternative Name GSK3 alpha (GSK3a Antibody Abstract)
Background Glycogen Synthase Kinase-3 differs from most serine/threonine kinases in that it is active in the absence of the action of signaling pathways. Two isoforms exist, GSK-3alpha and GSK-3beta. The function of GSK-3 is to phosphorylate glycogen synthase and thereby inactivate it. Insulin action stimulates the PI 3-kinase pathway, resulting in Akt activation, which phosphorylates and inactivates GSK-3.Synonyms: Factor A, GSK-3 alpha, GSK3A, Glycogen synthase kinase-3 alpha
Molecular Weight 46-51 kDa
Gene ID 2931
NCBI Accession NP_063937
UniProt P49840
Research Area Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular, Hypertrophy, Kinases/Phosphatases, Wnt, Wnt Signaling
Pathways PI3K-Akt Signaling, WNT Signaling, Fc-epsilon Receptor Signaling Pathway, EGFR Signaling Pathway, Neurotrophin Signaling Pathway, cAMP Metabolic Process, Cellular Glucan Metabolic Process, Regulation of Muscle Cell Differentiation, Regulation of G-Protein Coupled Receptor Protein Signaling, ER-Nucleus Signaling, Regulation of Carbohydrate Metabolic Process
