- Background
-
Pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 5, is a secreted protein which belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily, CEA family. It contains 2 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains and 1 Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. The human pregnancy-specific glycoproteins (PSGs) are a group of molecules that are mainly produced by the placental syncytiotrophoblasts during pregnancy. Diseases associated with PSG5 include leukemia. An important paralog of this gene is PSG9.
