- Background
-
Human T-Lymphocyte Virus (HTLV)-1 p24 Core is an E. coli-derived recombinant. The protein contains the full-length sequence of HTLV-I p24. Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) belongs to the family Retroviridae, genus Deltaretrovirus. It is a human, single-stranded RNA retrovirus that causes T-cell leukemia and T-cell lymphoma in adults and may also be involved in certain demyelinating diseases. Adult T-lymphotropic virus (ATLV) is a strain of this disease that effect primarily adults. Capsid protein p24 probably forms the conical core of the virus that encapsulates the genomic RNA-nucleocapsid complex.
