    Background
Parvalbumin alpha, also known PVALB, belongs to a larger group of EF hand proteins. It is a high affinity calcium ion-binding protein that is structurally and functionally similar to calmodulin and troponin C. Parvalbumin is expressed in a specific population of GABAergic interneurones which are thought to play a role in maintaining the balance between excitation and inhibition in the cortex as well as the hippocampus. Recombinant human PVALB protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Synonyms: Parvalbumin alpha,. NCBI no.: NP_002845
    Molecular Weight
    14.6 kDa (134aa) confirmed by MALDI-TOF
