    Background
Cold inducible RNA-binding protein, also known as CIRBP, plays a protective role in the genotoxic stress response by stabilizing transcripts of genes involved in cell survival. It is localizes to the nucleus and contains one RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. Expressed ubiquitously, CIRBP is thought to play an essential role in the suppression of cellular proliferation in response to UV irradiation or extreme cold. Recombinant human CIRBP protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
