    GDF-15 (Growth Differentiation factor 15) is a transforming growth factor beta superfamily member induced following liver injury. GDF-15 is a homodimer and disulfide-linked by similarity. GDF-15 is secreted and highly expressed in liver. GDF-15 belongs to the TGF-beta family.
