|Alternative Name||Catenin beta-1 (CTNNB1 Antibody Abstract)|
|Background||The catenins (α, β and γ) are ubiquitously expressed, cytoplasmic proteins associated with E-cadherin at cellular junctions. β- catenin also binds to N-cadherin and coimmunoprecipitates with APC. Cadherin/catenin complexes are linked to the cytoskeleton via a direct association between α-actinin and α-catenin. Increased tyrosine phosphorylation can disrupt catenin-cadherin complexes, influencing cellular adhesion.Synonyms: Beta-catenin, CTNNB, CTNNB1|
|Pathways||WNT Signaling, Intracellular Steroid Hormone Receptor Signaling Pathway, Peptide Hormone Metabolism, Regulation of Muscle Cell Differentiation, Cell-Cell Junction Organization, Tube Formation, Maintenance of Protein Location|

Immunoprecipitation (Native verified): Use Protein A, Ab 10 g/mg protein lysate. Western Blotting: 5-10 μg/mL for 2 hrs at RT. Immunohistology (Formalin/paraffin): Use Ab at 1-2 μg/mL for 30 min at RT. [Staining offormalin-fixed tissues REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0), for10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. ]Positive Control: MCF-7 cells. Breast carcinoma.
Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

|Buffer||10 mM PBS, pH 7.4, with 0.2 % BSA & 0.09 % sodium azide.|
|Precaution of Use||WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.|
|Handling Advice||Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.|
|Storage||4 °C/-20 °C|
|Storage Comment||Store the antibody at 2 - 8 °C up to one month or in aliquots at -20 °C for longer.|
