Background
DPPA2 (Developmental pluripotency-associated protein 2), also called PESCRG1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the DPPA2 gene. This gene contains 9 exons, and maps to chromosome 3q13.3. This 297-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 33.8 kD. Expression in human embryonic stem cells, but not in any other adult or fetal tissues or cells examined. It plays a role in maintaining cell pluripotentiality.
