The Rabbit Polyclonal anti-alpha Fetoprotein antibody is suitable to detect alpha Fetoprotein in samples from Human. It has been validated for IHC and IHC (p).
IHC, ICC (frozen or formalin–fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections, cell smears) 1:50-1:200 using streptavidin-Biotin system or polymer system. Prediluted antibody is used directly without dilution. The optimum dilution should be determined by the individual lab. Positive Control: Human fetal liver, tonsil. Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic.

Background
Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) is a 70 kDa glycoprotein (700 aa) produced by the yolk sac, liver and intestinal tract during fetal life. AFP is a useful marker for detection of numerous developmental defects (open neural tube defect), hepatocarcinoma and endodermal sinus tumor (germ cell and yolk sac). Traces of AFP are found in normal adult sera and in greater concentrations in maternal, fetal and amniotic fluid.
