Background
G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), comprise a large protein family of transmembrane receptors that sense molecules outside the cell and activate inside signal transduction pathways and, ultimately, cellular responses. G protein-coupled receptors are found only in eukaryotes, including yeast, choanoflagellates, and animals. GPR115 is a member of the adhesion family of G-protein coupled receptors. All of the Adhesion GPCRs except GPR 123 contain a GPCR proteolytic domain (GPS).
