Background: Prominin 2 belongs to the Prominin family of pentaspan membrane glycoproteins and so contains five transmembrane segments and two large glycosylated extracellular loops. Expression studies in CHO cells showed that prominin 2 was associated with plasma membrane protrusions similar to prominin 1.
