Antigen
Alternative Name KCNJ11 (KCNJ11 Antibody Abstract)
Background Kir6.2/Kcnj11, an ATP sensitive inwardly-rectifying potassium channel, was originally isolated from an insulinoma library. Actual conductance requires association with the sulfonylurea receptor. This receptor is inhibited by sulfonylureas and activated by diazoxide. Mutations in the KNCJ11 gene are found in patients with permanent diabetes mellitus of infancy and hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia. It is thought that this channel couples metabolism to membrane electrical events fibringing about insulin secretion.Synonyms: ATP-sensitive inward rectifier potassium channel 11, IKATP, Inward rectifier K+ channel Kir6.2, KCNJ11, Potassium channel, inwardly rectifying subfamily J member 11
Gene ID 9606
UniProt Q14654
Pathways Negative Regulation of Hormone Secretion
