    Background
CLMP, also known as CXADR like membrane protein, is a type 1 transmembrane protein and member of the CTX family within the immunoglobulin superfamily. This protein is highly expressed in the small intestine and placenta, and is found at intermediate levels in the heart, skeletal muscle, colon, and lung and appears in low levels in the liver and peripheral blood leukocytes as well. It is localized to junctional complexes between endothelial and epithelial cells and may play a role in cell-cell adhesion. Also, it plays a role in adipocyte differentiation and development of obesity. Recombinant human CLMP, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
