    Background
Brain expressed, X-linked 1, also known as BEX1, is signaling adapter molecule involved in p75NTR/NGFR signaling. This protein plays a role in cell cycle progression and neuronal differentiation. This protein inhibits neuronal differentiation in response to nerve growth factor (NGF). It may act as a link between the cell cycle and neurotrophic factor signaling, possibly by functioning as an upstream modulator of receptor signaling, coordinating biological responses to external signals with internal cellular states. Recombinant human BEX1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
